Hot Milk, I Think I Hate Myself
Music for Nations

Hot Milk blew us out of the water with last single I JUST WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I’M DEAD – and the ensuing explosive Download Pilot set. And they’re continuing to storm ahead with nihilist pop-punk banger I Think I Hate Myself: singing along at the top of your lungs and feeling miserable has never felt so good. This is a niche Hot Milk know well, and they’re continuing to nail it as they approach the release of their next EP I JUST WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I’M DEAD, coming in September.

Where IJWKWHWID kicked off with Hot Milk’s fiercest onslaught of noise yet, I Think I Hate Myself is more down their classic, melody-driven route, and it’s one of their catchiest too. While it’s infectious and bright in sound, the more reflective pace and the sting of the lyrics keep us firmly grounded in the melancholy mood. Jangling guitar riffs could come fresh off a 1975 album, but co-vocalist Han Mee’s immense performance firmly cements the song in pop-punk territory with a healthy dose of introspective rage and calamitous emotion.

Hot Milk have secured their reputation as one of the coolest acts rising through the scene, and with a knack for tunes that feel like they don’t even try to pin down their quintessential angsty sound, it’s a sure-fire ascent that’s only getting faster from here. With a select few tour dates already announced for autumn around the release of the EP, too, it’s time to press play and jump on the hype. If you’re not already there, you’re already late.

I JUST WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I’M DEAD is out September 10th.
